Russian Coal held an interregional festival of mining skills in Kuzbass for the first time for the 300th anniversary of the coal industry

For the 300th anniversary of the coal industry of the Russian Federation and the 75th anniversary of the professional holiday Miner’s Day, the Russian Coal company for the first time held an interregional festival of mining skills in the “coal heart” of Russia – Kuzbass.

About 60 miners – representatives of labor dynasties – from 7 coal mining enterprises of 4 regions of the Russian Federation – the Amur Region, the Krasnoyarsk Territory, Khakassia and Kuzbass competed for the title of the best professional.

The event was held at the Vinogradovsky coal mine of the Kuzbass Fuel Company in the format of a family festival. Family entertainment, career guidance quizzes and fun rides were organized for the guests.

The Miners’ festival was opened by a historical parade of equipment dedicated to the development of the Russian coal industry. The legendary Konogon was the first to appear in front of the audience, because horses helped to export “black gold” from the mines until the early seventies of the last century.

The legendary Soviet “hard workers”- trucks of the middle of the last century – continued the march.

And modern technology completed the historical excursion – maneuverable loaders and giant BelAZ dump trucks spun in a miner’s waltz to classical music, as if performing ballet pirouettes.

It’s time for the competition. About 300 spectators gathered at a specially created site that meets all the requirements of industrial safety to see the skill of the miners. Among them are not only colleagues, but also families of coal miners. Many of them were able to visit the coal mine for the first time and see how “black gold” is mined. The honorary guests of the holiday were the heads of mining equipment manufacturing companies. A mandatory requirement for attending the event is vaccination and revaccination from covid-19.

The competitions were held in 10 nominations. Representatives of the main working professions of the coal industry competed for the title of the best professional – drivers of walking, electric and hydraulic excavators, bulldozer drivers, drivers of BelAZ dump trucks of different lifting capacities and loader drivers. For the first time, electric and gas welders competed for the title of the best, without which timely and qualified repair of mining equipment is impossible.

The results of the participants were evaluated by a panel of judges, which included 15 judges – employees of coal mining enterprises of the Amur Region, Krasnoyarsk Krai, Khakassia and Kuzbass.

The competition program consisted of 2 parts – theoretical and practical. Practical tasks included both the work familiar to miners and extraordinary tricks on mining vehicles that require truly jewelry art from drivers and drivers.

As a result, the miners from Kuzbass won the championship in a tense struggle. The second place was taken by coal miners of Khakassia. Coal miners from the Amur Region and the Krasnoyarsk Territory were among the bronze medalists.

All winners and prize-winners were awarded with solid monetary prizes and commemorative awards. In addition, the participants who took the first places will receive an additional salary supplement during the calendar year.

However, the main task of each team of contestants is not to win, but to exchange experience and best production practices between regions, which will then be brought into the work of their teams. This contributes to the growth of labor productivity and the achievement of the highest production indicators.

Russian Coal and Kuzbass Fuel Company are among the largest coal companies in Russia in terms of total annual coal production (about 30 million tons). The total reserves of both companies exceed 2 billion tons of thermal coal. Russian Coal and CPC fuel are in demand both in Russia and in the world, employing over 9,000 people at the enterprises. Both companies annually invest billions of rubles in the renewal of the fleet of equipment, including as part of the import substitution program. Extensive fuel reserves and a fleet of modern equipment allow companies to plan stable operations in the long term – for decades to come.

“Russian Coal” and “Kuzbass Fuel Company” systematically pursue a socially oriented policy in the regions of their presence, provide social support to miners and their families. Hundreds of new jobs are created at the companies’ enterprises every year.

“By developing our staff, we contribute to the development of the entire coal industry – and with it, to maintaining the country’s energy security, maintaining the stability of the economy, preserving existing jobs and creating new ones. Perhaps some of the kids who visited the coal mine for the first time today and saw how masterfully they work on such a giant, multi-ton equipment, will also want to follow in their father’s footsteps and link their lives with work in such an important area for the country as the coal industry,” said the representative of the Russian Coal company.

Employees of the Pereyaslovsky section introduce modern lining technologies

Technologies for lining the inner walls of excavator buckets with sheets of ultrahigh molecular polyethylene (UHMWPE RE-1000) are being introduced at the Pereyaslovsky section (an asset of the Russian Coal company in the Krasnoyarsk Territory).

Lining allows you to increase the service life of the bucket, reduce the impact of shock loads, reduce the sticking of overburden and the impact of friction on the surface of the working equipment of excavators of the EKG type (crawler excavator). Carrying out these works contributes to increasing the resource and productivity of mining equipment, as well as reducing operating costs, explained in the department of the chief mechanic of the enterprise.

Currently, specialists of the repair and mechanical section group, taking into account the recommendations of suppliers of lining material, have mastered and successfully applied the technology of lining excavator buckets with sheets of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene, one bucket of the EKG-10 excavator and two buckets of the EKG-8I excavator have been lined. At the same time, one bucket, upgraded with this technology, has been successfully in operation for more than 1 year.

“The quality of the work performed by the specialists of our enterprise is not inferior to the quality of the work performed earlier by the contractors. It should be noted that in case of defects and separation of individual lining elements, we have the opportunity at any time to promptly replace the failed lining material sheets, having a reserve in the material warehouse of the branch, and therefore the time of emergency downtime of the excavator is reduced,” explained Konstantin Zhbanov, Deputy Chief mechanic of the Pereyaslavsky section.
